All change at Colwyn Bay

In 2013, Colwyn Bay saw the start of a multi-million pound Waterfront Project, giving the seafront of this historic seaside town a new lease of life and a new beach.

Awesomely, a sandbar was dredged 20 miles out to sea and tons of soft golden sand were added to widen and plump up the shore.

Visitors to Colwyn Bay can now enjoy this new wide sandy Porth Eirias beach and admire the seaside views from the improved promenade with new beautiful seating and landscaped areas.

Porth Eirias is the iconic development right at the heart of the promenade. It’s home to celebrity and Michelin award-winning chef Bryn Williams’ award-winning bistro.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is also a must-see, sitting high up above Colwyn Bay with panoramic views across the bay. This conservation zoo has some rare species including Sumatran tigers and snow leopards – well worth a visit.
