Solva travel poster

Solva near Saint David’s in Pembrokeshire, Wales is a beautiful place, with a colourful, vibrant high street and a gorgeous harbour, in-between two valleys, meltwater valleys which were created during the last ice age.

On one side of the valley is Solva, with a path along a harbour wall – perfect for crabbing or jumping off at High tide. There is a small sailing club and cafe, with regular sailing regattas, kayaking, harbour wall jumping and swimming – although check the tides. At low tide, the water tends to completely dry up apart from a stream running down the middle of the harbour.

On the other side of the valley, which you can cross at a little bridge at the rear of the main carpark (or walk across at low tide) there are some lime kilns to explore and a walk around the Gribin. The Gribin is a rocky headland guarding the entrance to Solva Harbour, giving spectacular views along the coast and across St Bride’s Bay, and at low tide you can walk around to an idyllic little pebble beach.
