Saint Dogmaels / Teifi Estuary Poster

St Dogmaels is a village and parish in Pembrokeshire, Wales, on the estuary of the River Teifi a short walk from Poppit Sands – one of many beaches along the Cardigan Bay / Pembrokeshire Coast.

Saint Dogmaels is just a mile downstream from the town of Cardigan in neighbouring Ceredigion. St Dogmael’s is the most northerly point of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Coastal Path.

In 2006 the village won the Wales Calor Village of the Year competition.

The Teifi estuary is famous as a breeding ground for birds and wildlife, with a Wildlife centre just a few miles further along the estuary in the village of Cilgerran.

St Dogmaels has some great pubs one of the most popular is the Ferry Inn if you travelling by boat you can even moor alongside and enjoy the local catch of the day. Just a few metres further along there is a slipway for launching smaller pleasure craft.

Not far from St.Dogmaels are the Preseli Hills (Mynyddoedd Preseli), a wide stretch of high moorland with many prehistoric monuments famous for the bluestones used in Stonehenge in England (about 180 miles away.) The dramatic Pentre Ifan Neolithic burial chamber is well worth a visit.
