Freshwater West is a gorgeous beach near Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire in West Wales. The National Trust calls it “a must-visit beach in Pembrokeshire. It’s breathtakingly beautiful” and go on to say “it’s perfect for family adventures and a favourite with watersports enthusiasts.”

Freshwater Surfing

Freshwater West is arguably the most consistent surf spot in Wales, picking up any swell going and holding waves up to around 6-8ft before becoming unmanageable.  With a very deep channel in front of the beach, the waves can have real power and are hollow! Freshwater West should only be surfed by experienced and strong swimmers as strong rip currents occur off this beach.

Freshwater West has been used as a backdrop for feature films including Robin Hood and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Yes, it was used as the backdrop for Dobby’s Shell Cottage, which was built on-site down to the smallest detail including the seaweed. Although the cottage was taken down after filming, you can still walk in the footsteps of Harry, Hermione and Ron. Our poster has the seaweed drying hut, on the foreshore, this thatched shack was once used as a seaweed drying hut.

Sadly, we are out of stock of ALL our inhouse frames - due to ongoing building work, we unfortunately will not have space to store our frames so for the foreseeable future we are selling our posters as just that - posters. We can recommend framers and online frame suppliers if you would like any recommendations.
