Abereiddy Beach North Pembrokeshire.

Abereiddy (Welsh: Abereiddi) is a tiny hamlet in North Pembrokeshire, Wales.

This lovely colourful poster of Abereiddy has a dramatic feel to the beautiful beach at Abereiddy between Saint David’s and Fishguard.

Abereiddy/Abereiddi beach was awarded the Blue flag rural beach award in 2005. It’s distinctive black sand made of pounded grey slate and full of tiny fossils, gives the beach a dramatic look. Abereiddy Tower looks over the bay. believed to date back around 200 years and acted either as a lookout point, a navigational aid or both.

To the North of the beach is the famous Blue Lagoon – a beautiful former slate quarry (active up until 1910) before being abandoned and flooded. Abereiddy is apparently the home of coasteering – an exciting sport involving scrambling, jumping and generally having fun on the rugged coastline. If you’ve visited this beach you’ll probably have heard some excited screams of someone jumping into the Blue Lagoon.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series visited the Blue Lagoon in 2012 for the first time in the UK. It was held again in 2013 and 2016.

Abereiddy beach is popular with kayakers, surfers and bodyboarders – although beware this beach doesn’t have lifeguards. With the right conditions, the bay is a spectacular place for confident swimmers to enjoy the surf.
