(Porthor) in the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales is a quiet beautiful sandy beach.

Porthor or “Whistling Sands”, is derived from the squeak or whistle emitted by the unusually shaped sand particles being rubbed together when walked on in warm weather. The fine sand really does squeak or whistle as you walk on this lovely beach, especially if you stamp or slide your feet on dry sand.
